Everest Expedition

Since the mountaineering duo Sir Edmund Hillary and Tenzing Norgay Sherpa made their first ascend to the summit of the highest mountain in the world, Mt.Everest (8849 metres), in 1953, many mountaineering enthusiasts have attempted to achieve a similar feat. But not every one of them has not been able to live in the glorious moments at the peak of the tallest mountain in the world that trespasses heaven.

It is the dream of every passionate mountaineer to conquer this peak at least once in their lifetime, regardless of the risks and challenges it poses. Indeed, more than 6,300 mountaineers, after the first man’s step on the summit of Everest, have successfully followed the glorifying route to the top of the world. The Mt. Everest expedition demands a high level of physical prowess, patience, determination, endurance, commitment, and significant mountaineering expertise. This expedition has been graded as an extremely difficult and dangerous climb that shouldn’t be taken lightly; even experienced mountaineers have to face serious risks and challenges during the ascend of the mountain.

Still, true passionate mountaineering enthusiasts want to taste victory on this magnificent peak at least once in their time-life. So, in order to make the lifelong dream of such mountaineers possible, our expert team with years of experience in guided expeditions has been leading a safe and shielded adventure to the summit of this magnificent towering peak in the Himalayas.

Itineraries

Day 01

Arrival at Kathmandu and hotel transfer

Welcome to the land of the Himalayas. Our representative will receive you at the terminal of the Tribhuvan International Airport(TIA). Peak Climbing Nepal’s representative will transfer you to your respective hotel and aid you with the check-in procedure. After you get enough rest, you can also use this day to stroll around the capital and experience its vibrant beauty.

We will host a welcome dinner in the evening, the commencement of the great venture to the highest peak in the world.

Day 02

Sightseeing day in Kathmandu and expedition overview

On the second day of your Everest expedition, you will enjoy a guided exploration of the beautiful Kathmandu Valley. You will explore some of the most popular tourist destinations in the capital, including the UNESCO World Heritage Sites. As it won’t be possible to explore all seven UNESCO sites located in Kathmandu, you can choose at least 3-4 sites for the day's exploration.

You can also use this day to shop for any necessary equipment or rent them from Kathmandu. As for the evening part, you will be briefed about the expedition by our exceptional expertise team. You will head back to the hotel to rest and mentally prepare for the big adventure starting the next day.

Day 03

Kathmandu to Lukla flight and trekking to Phakding

Today, your adventure will start early in the morning, you will be transferred to the airport for a domestic flight. You will board a short-scenic flight to Lukla from Kathmandu; the cross-valley flight that lasts approximately 25-30 minutes will offer you picturesque views of the deep valleys, sparkling rivers, and the magnificent Himalayas.

This thrilling flight to Tenzing Hillary Airport, one of the smallest airports in the world with just a 527-meter-long runway, will be something you will forever engrave in your adventurous soul. After landing on Lukla, the region known as the gateway to the Everest region, you will meet up with the rest of the expedition crew.

Then, you will follow the route parallel to the Dudh Koshi River, passing through lush pine and rhododendron forests and pushing towards Phakding. You can get enjoy the incredible view of Kusum Kangru (6,369 meters), including other Himalayan massifs, after reaching Phakding, your resting destination tonight.

Day 04

Day 04: Trekking to the Sherpa Capital, Namche Bazaar, from Phakding

Today, your adventure will start early; unlike yesterday's short-scenic trekking adventure, you will cover a significant distance today, moving towards the Sherpa Capita, Namche Bazaar. Walking beside the Dudh Koshi River, you will cross the famous suspension bridge, Hillary Suspension Bridge, on today’s trek. You will pass through villages like Jorsale and Monjo, reaching the entrance of the Sagarmatha National Park.

On this day’s trek, you will pass along trails filled with colorful wildflowers and dense pine forests and the route filled with the sweet aroma of the bright rhododendrons. If you are lucky, you might even catch a glimpse of wildlife like snow leopards, musk deer, marten, Himalayan tahr, and red pandas the Sagarmatha region is famous for. After crossing the ride insertion of Lhotse and Nuptse in the final section, you will climb up to Namche Bazaar.

This beautiful headquarter of the Khumbu region rewards with the picturesque views of the massifs in the Himalayas like Mt. Lhotse Mt. Nuptse, Kongde Ri, Thamserku, Khongeta and, of course, the glorious Mt. Everest this expedition leads to.

Day 05

Acclimatization and exploration day at Namche Bazaar

As you have ascended over a significant altitude, it is essential to let your body get used to the high-altitude environment; thus, the fifth day of your Everest expedition will be a rest day. Although it is a day off for acclimatization, it doesn’t mean that you have to sit idly; the Sherpa Capital is filled with adventurous activities to make your rest day fun and exciting.

If you are feeling full of energy, you could hike up to Shangbouche (3,800 meters) or other optional hikes, Thame or Khumjung, which offer magnificent views of mountain peaks like Mt. Ama Dablam, Mt. Thamersku, Mt Lhotse, Mt. Nuptse, Mt. Tobuche and Mt. Everest.

You could also check out other major attractions of the high-altitude civilization, like Everest View Hotel (the highest-luxury hotel in the world), Sherpa Culture Museum, Hillary Museum, Syangboche Airstrip, and the world’s highest Irish Pub. And if you are lucky, you might even witness the weekly fair that takes place every Saturday morning.

Day 06

Namche Bazaar to Tyangboche trekking

After immersing in the vibrant culture and hospitality of the Sherpa Capital, you follow an easy-graded trek to Tyangboche today. During the first section of the trek, you will descend, passing through Trashinga and other villages and following the trail of the Imja Khola. Then, during the final stretch of today’s adventure, you will ascend a long climb to reach Tyangboche.

Today’s trek, surrounded by the glorious peaks of the Himalayas and passing through the lush, dense rhododendron and pine forest towards the high-Himalayan vistas, is considered to be one of the most exciting days of this Everest expedition. Following this scenic trail, you will reach Sansa, the junction point between Everest Base Camp and Gokyo Valley Trek. Then the long climb during the final part will lead you to a stone gate built by Lamas, which will welcome you to the spiritual epicenter of the Khumbu region.

You will rest here tonight, and in the morning, you will visit the Tyangboche Monastery to attend the morning prayers and receive a blessing from the elderly monk for the success of the Mt. Everest Expedition. It is a tradition among the Mt. Everest climber to attend the prayer and receive blessings before they move along on their route to conquer the summit of the mountain.

Day 07

Trek to Dingboche from Tyangboche

After attending the morning prayer and receiving blessings from the elderly monks, on today’s trek, you will move toward Dingboche, following the Imja Khola and passing through the dense, lush forests. In today’s expedition, you will also see the beautiful village of Panboche, which is the last permanent village en route to the Everest Base Camp.

During the last section of this trek, you will climb the ridgeline of Somare, this village is the junction point for the trail heading towards Pheriche and Dingboche. Enjoying the picturesque views of mountain ranges like Mt. Ama Dablam, Mt. Nuptse, Mt. Cholatse, and several others, you will enter the ‘summer valley’ Dingboche. You will catch a glimpse of the high-Himalayan agriculture practice here; stone fences surrounding the fields to protect the crops from grazing animals and wind. You will rest here tonight, admiring the beautiful lifestyle and civilization of the Himalayas under the picturesque reflection of the glorious peaks.

Day 08

Dingboche to Lobuche trekking

Today’s trek in your Everest expedition can be a little bit challenging; starting your adventure early in the morning, you will trek to Pheriche Valley. As the altitude rises above 4,500 meters in today’s trek, it is recommended that you take it slow and stay hydrated. Leaving Pheriche behind, you will move towards Dughla (4,595 meters), which is also known as Thukla; then, after enjoying lunch here, you will continue the uphill accent to Lobuche.

This route will also take you toward the Thula Pass which is known as the Everest Memorial Ground, a graveyard for the lost souls on the slopes of the mountain. The trail becomes flat and easier after the climb during the last stretch, and you will able to enjoy the views of mountains like Mt. Changtse, Mt. Pumori, Mt. Khumbutse, Mt. Nuptse, Mt. Ama Dablam, Lobuche Peak, and Mt. Tawache.

Day 09

Lobuche to Gorakshep trek

Although most expedtioners en route to the Everest Base Camp start their adventure early from Lobuche, rushing to Gorakashep and pushing for either Everest Base Camp or Kalapatthar. But, instead of rushing the expedition, you will enjoy a slow-paced adventure so you won’t have to miss the significant part of this exhilarating adventure.

Following the moraines of the Khumbu Glacier, you will enjoy a slow pace trekking headed towards the Gorakshep. This beautiful setting at the foothills of the tallest mountain in the world is the last human civilization on this route, you will need to depend on camping from here onwards. Although it is a short 3-4 hours trek, the trail shouldn’t be underestimated the glacial ridges, rocky moraines, and short downhill descent are some of the challenges of today’s trek.

The Himalayan peak like Nuptse, Changtse, and Khumbutse, including Mt. Everest, will brighten your trails. You will enjoy your stay here on the flatland below Kalapatthar tonight, preparing for the most exciting and thrilling day up ahead.

Day 10

Early morning trek to Kalapatthar, hike back to Gorakshep, and push for the Everest Base Camp

The 10th day of your Everest Expedition will be an unforgettable day, as no adventure to the Khumbu region is complete without hiking up to Kalapatthar. You will start your morning hike from Gorakshep to Kalapatthar and enjoy the up close magnificent sunrise views as the sun slowly rises amidst and reflect its color on the white-clad peaks of the Himalayas. From this vantage point, you will be able to enjoy the panoramic 360° views of the world-renowned popular peaks like Mt. Nuptse, Mt. Changtse, Mt. Lhotse, Mt. Ama Dablam, and Mt. Pumori, including Mt. Everest.

After enjoying the views atop the highest elevation point of the Everest Base Camp trek, you will retrace your steps back to Gorakshep. You will have your lunch at Gorakshep, then prepare to push towards the foothills of the highest snow-capped wonder in the world. Following the side ridge of the Khumbu Glacier and crossing it, you will push for the Everest Base Camp during the second part of today’s trek. Don’t rush to enjoy the magnificence at the foothills of this glorious peak as you will few days here while your expedition team makes preparation for your ascend to the top of Everest.

Day 11-13

Rest and acclimatization days, preparing for the ascend at Everest Base Camp

As proper acclimatization is a must during any high-mountain expedition, especially those in the 8.000er categories, you will use Day 11 to Day 13 to properly acclimatize to the environment. Meanwhile, your expedition team will take care of all the necessary preparation for your ascending. During this acclimatization period, you will mentally prepare yourself for the expedition and do small acclimatization hikes around the region.

Our expedition team will do a daily physical inspection of your body to ensure it is doing well at the base camp altitude and is ready the ascending the tallest mountain slope in the world. It will be best if you do physical activities during this period rather than sitting idle; it will greatly benefit you as you climb to higher altitudes with a less oxygen saturation level.

Day 14-60

Ascending Mount Everest and climbing down to Everest Base Camp

After settling well with the environment during the acclimatization period, now it is time to commence this epic quest to the top of the world. You will start the ascend to the top of Everest via the Khumbu Icefall; as the Sherpa climbing crew has already set the route with ropes and ladders to Base Camp I, you will slowly move towards Base Camp II.

The Mt. Everest expedition takes a lot of hard work, strong will, and determination; there are four base camps on the slopes of the mountain, and you will keep pushing for the summit, acclimatizing properly and giving yourself enough time to replenish your energy and mentally visualize the journey up ahead. Our expert team will do all the hard work, fixing proper routes to the summit and setting up additional camps above the base camps to take care of your fooding and accommodation needs.

After several days of uphill and downhill ascend, you will climb on the slopes of the mountain from the Lhotse Face to reach Base Camp III; from here onward, you will use bottled oxygen as you head towards Base Camp IV on the South Col route. During the final stretch, you will ascend about 900 meters from the South Col to push for the summit considering the weather conditions.

Enjoying the surreal Himalayan peaks down below, including Shishapangma on the west and Kanchenjunga in the east, you will briefly admire the beauty of the heavenly nature from up top and celebrate the accomplishment. Then being mindful of the safety precautions to avoid the sickness, you will descend back following the same route. By Day 59- Day 60, you will be down at the base camp, getting the well-deserved rest on properly managed warm camps, celebrating your victorious moment on the tallest mountain in the world with the expedition team.

Your safety will be our top priority during the expedition on the mountain. And our world-class professional Sherpa team will guide and take care of you in any situation as you conquer the dream peak and move along the descending trail to safety.

Day 61

Trekking down to Pheriche from Everest Base Camp

After celebrating the lifetime achievement at the base camp and getting well-deserved rest, on Day 61, your will start your descent back, bidding a heartfelt farewell to this glorious firm natural infrastructure that reflects the greatness of mother nature. This day’s beautiful trekking experience passes Gorakshep and Lobuche, you will follow a gradual descent at the last section, which will bring you to Pheriche. Today’s trek will naturally seem faster as you trek down for more than 1,000 meters which isn’t that easy when you ascend via steep climbing sections.

You will rest here tonight, a popular resting destination for climbers and mountaineers in the Khumbu region. It is also the home base for the Himalayan Rescue Association, which runs a hospital built by the Japanese in 1975.

Day 62

Descending to Tyangboche from Pheriche

Today, you will follow the trail back to the main Everest Base Camp trekking, heading towards Pangboche during the first part. The downward trekking route on this day is relatively easy, but there are also a few uphill segments enroute. After having lunch at Pangboche, you will move along the trail following the Imja Khola and finally climb a steep section to reach Tyangboche.

This spiritual hub of the Khumbu region, under the blessing of the Tyangboche Monastery, will be your resting destination tonight. If you want, you can also witness the ritual worshipping ceremony in the monastery that starts around 3 p.m in the evening.

Day 63

Trekking to Namche Bazaar from Tyangboche

It is a short and scenic day to tour today as you leave the Himalayan vistas behind, heading towards the greenery and flourishing subtropical highland. Following the leveled path during the first section, you will descend and trek alongside the Dudh Koshi River. After crossing the suspension bridge over Dudh Koshi, you will reach Phuki Tenga; from there, you will approach the Kyangjuma, which leads pleasant trails back to the Sherpa capital.

Namche Bazaar, the vibrant town of the Khumbu region, will finally be like a trek back to more urban settlements. You can enjoy any basic perks of a modern town and an extensive set of eatery menus and accommodation services.

Day 64

Namche Bazaar to Lukla descend

On Day 65 of your Everest expedition, you will descend to the gateway to Everest, where it all began. On today’s expedition, you will pass the beautiful Sherpa civilization like Phadkinga and Monjo, following the scenic route alongside the region nourished by the Bhote Koshi River. Passing through the lush rhododendron and pine tree forest, today’s trek will also be accompanied by the picturesque views of mountain ranges in the Himalayas like Mt. Lhotse, Thamserku, Khongeta Mt. Nuptse, Kongde Ri, and Mt. Everest.

During the last section of today’s trek, you will cross the Bhote Koshi River three times and finally make an uphill 45-minute climb to finally reach Lukla. You will rest your weary body here tonight, recalling the great adventure that led to the top of the world and preparing to wrap up the adventure.

Day 65

Flight back to Kathmandu from Lukla

Now the time to bid farewell to this glorious Everest expedition has come forth; after breakfast, you will take an early morning flight back to Kathmandu. This 25-30-minute cross-valley flight will offer you the last glimpse of the magnificence of the Himalayas from up close one last time as you pass over deep valleys, soaring rivers, widespread civilizations, and green hills as you move closer to the capital.

After landing in Kathmandu, you will be transferred to your respective hotels; after resting for a bit, you can check out the bustling city to collect souvenirs or explore the UNESCO World Heritage sites that we missed during the second-day valley exploration. In the evening, we will host a farewell dinner to celebrate your accomplishment and conclude this great partnership for the time being.

Day 66

Everest Expedition conclusion and transfer to the airport according to flight schedules

Day 66 of your Everest expedition will conclude our ventured partnership, our representative will drop you off at the airport as per your flight schedules. It is recommended that you should reach the airport 3 hours before the scheduled flight, so plan accordingly.
