Itineraries

Day 01

Arrive in Paro by Druk Air and Transfer to Thimphu (55km, 1.5 hrs)

On a clear day, the flight into Paro is one of the most scenic mountain flights in the world. Upon arrival, you’ll be greeted by cool, fresh air as you step out of the aircraft. Our representative will meet you at Paro Airport and transfer you to Thimphu, Bhutan’s capital. The scenic drive takes you through the Paro Valley, past the confluence of the Paro and Thimphu Rivers at Chuzom. After checking into your hotel, enjoy an afternoon stroll to familiarize yourself with the local surroundings. Later, visit the National Memorial Chorten, a monument dedicated to world peace and prosperity, where the intricate paintings and statues inside offer a profound insight into Buddhist philosophy. Day 02

Explore Thimphu

After a leisurely breakfast, embark on a guided tour of Thimphu. Start with a visit to the National Library, home to a vast collection of ancient Buddhist texts and manuscripts, some dating back several centuries, as well as modern works on Himalayan culture and religion.
Next, visit the Institute for Zorig Chusum, also known as the Arts & Crafts School, where students learn Bhutan’s traditional arts and crafts. Continue to the Textile and Folk Heritage Museums to explore the fascinating Bhutanese culture and way of life through unique artifacts and exhibits.
Conclude your sightseeing with a visit to Trashichhodzong, a grand fortress that serves as the administrative center, housing the Secretariat, the King’s throne room, and various government offices. It is also the summer residence of the Chief Abbot and the central monk body. Overnight at a hotel in Thimphu.

Day 03

Drive to Paro (55 km, 1:30 hrs.)

After breakfast, drive to Paro, stopping en route to visit Simtokha Dzong, known for its profound tantric teachings. Once in Paro, check into your hotel, then head to Ta Dzong, originally built as a watchtower and now housing the National Museum. The museum displays a rich collection of antique thangka paintings, textiles, weapons, and historical artifacts.
Next, take a walk down to Rinpung Dzong (“Fortress of the Heap of Jewels”), a site with beautiful wall paintings depicting Buddhist legends. Before entering the dzong, cross the picturesque Nemi Zam bridge, a traditional cantilever structure. Overnight at a hotel in Paro.

Day 04

Excursion to Taktsang Monastery (Tiger’s Nest)

After breakfast, embark on an unforgettable hike (approx. 5 hours) to the iconic Taktsang Monastery (Tiger’s Nest), perched on a cliffside. This sacred site is believed to be where Guru Rinpoche meditated after flying there on the back of a tigress.
On the way back to Paro, stop at Drukgyel Dzong, a historic fortress that once served as a stronghold for Bhutanese warriors during battles with Tibetan invaders. The majestic Chomolhari Mountain (Mountain of the Goddess) looms in the background, adding to the stunning view. Overnight at a hotel in Paro.

Depart from Paro

After a relaxed breakfast, you’ll be transferred to Paro Airport for your departure flight to your next destination.
