Mera Peak, at 6,654 meters, is one of the highest trekking peaks in Nepal, located in the remote and isolated area of Khumbu. The trek begins in the village of Lukla, the gateway to Everest. From there, the trail leads through the adjacent high mountain hills of Naulekh.
As we leave the last settlement behind, we head east for a steep three-hour climb to the top of the ridge. From here, it's a steep descent into the hidden valley of Hinku. Once we reach the bottom, the valley offers a pleasant walk through serene forests of pine and rhododendron, with grazing pastures and meadows. Our next stop is a high camp at 5,800 meters, located at the foot of Mera Peak.
The final climb to the summit is technically straightforward and involves crossing a long glacier. At the summit, we’ll have time to immerse ourselves in the surrounding beauty and enjoy panoramic views of the mountains, including the five highest peaks over 8,000 meters: Everest, Lhotse, Makalu, Kanchenjunga, and Cho Oyu. After this challenging trek, we retrace our steps back to Lukla for the scenic flight to Kathmandu.
